The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has intensified its crackdown on unauthorised gambling services, ordering Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to block eight more illegal online gambling and affiliate-marketing websites. The affected sites include JokaRoom, AUDPokies888, Aura Play, Instant Casino, Leon, Rich Papa, UUSpin, and Wild Pokies, all found to be in violation of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
This action is part of ACMA’s ongoing effort to protect Australian consumers from unregulated operators. Since its first website blocking request in November 2019, ACMA has successfully restricted access to 1,154 illegal gambling and affiliate sites. Additionally, over 220 unauthorised gambling services have exited the Australian market since stricter enforcement began in 2017.
The authority maintains a public register of licensed operators to help consumers verify legitimate wagering services. ACMA warns that illegal platforms often lack essential consumer protections, exposing users to financial risks.
This latest enforcement follows formal warnings issued in January 2025 to offshore operators Dama N.V. and Luster N.V. for offering unlicensed gambling services to Australian customers. Meanwhile, Western Australia has also announced plans to strengthen its gambling laws by increasing financial penalties and enforcement powers, reinforcing the country’s commitment to regulatory oversight in the sector.
