The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) is cracking down on offshore gambling and affiliate marketing websites operating illegally in the country. ACMA has named 11 sites, including Greenspin, Slotman, and Jeetcity, that will be blocked for breaching the Interactive Gambling Act. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have been requested to block access to these sites.

ACMA has been consistently blocking illegal gambling websites since 2017, with 220 services already exiting the country. This website blocking initiative is just one of many enforcement options ACMA is using to protect Australians from illegal gambling.

The recent blocking orders add to a growing list of brands facing similar measures throughout Australia. ACMA wants to remind consumers that even if a service appears legitimate, it lacks important customer protections. This puts Australians at risk of losing their money by using illegal gambling services.

In addition to website blocking, the Australian Senate has put a ban on credit cards for online gambling. This aligns with the ban on credit cards for land-based gaming, creating consistent regulations for all forms of gambling. The legislation has passed through both the House of Representatives and the Senate and is awaiting royal assent before implementation.
