Singapore casino resort, Marina Bay Sands, has announced a data security incident that occurred on October 19th and 20th, 2023. Unauthorized access by a third party resulted in the breach of personal data belonging to approximately 665,000 non-casino rewards members of the Sands LifeStyle program. However, the investigation has confirmed that the personal data of Sands LifeStyle rewards members was not affected.

Marina Bay Sands is actively addressing the incident and taking steps to strengthen their data protection systems. While there is currently no evidence of misuse of the accessed data, customers are urged to stay vigilant against phishing attempts and regularly update their login credentials as a precaution.

The security incident did not impact the membership data of the Sands Rewards Club, the casino rewards program. Marina Bay Sands promptly reported the incident to relevant authorities and is cooperating with their inquiries.

This data security incident at Marina Bay Sands comes in the wake of a similar breach affecting Caesars Entertainment’s loyalty program, Caesars Rewards. A law firm is actively seeking individuals affected by the breach for a potential lawsuit, highlighting the importance of data security in the gaming and entertainment industry.

Marina Bay Sands has recently completed an extensive $1bn redevelopment initiative, including the addition of over 850 ultra-luxury hotel rooms, a modernized Executive Club lounge, and enhanced dining and health services.
