Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Emirati Politician and Crown Prince of Dubai, led a meeting today with the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy. During the meeting, they launched the Dubai Programme for Gaming 2023 with the aim of positioning Dubai among the top 10 cities in the global gaming industry. Sheikh Hamdan shared this exciting news on Twitter.

One of the main objectives of the program is to create 30,000 jobs in the gaming sector over the next decade, while also increasing the sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) by $1 billion.

Dubai has been actively working towards innovation in the gambling industry for a while. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been collaborating to establish casinos and other gaming operations. In fact, Wynn’s plan to develop a $2 billion resort in the UAE last year was part of this effort.

Furthermore, Jim Murren, the former Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International, has recently become the Chair at the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (UAE). This appointment reflects the region’s commitment to becoming a gaming industry hub.

During the meeting, three new projects were also approved as part of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy. As the city strives to become the most digitally advanced city globally, it frequently hosts Web3 and blockchain events, attracting global businesses and promoting industry growth.

Although casinos and gambling establishments have yet to open in Dubai due to the nation’s adherence to Muslim practices, exceptions are likely to be made in the future, as evident from the Wynn Resorts plan.
