The Lotería de la Ciudad, the regulatory body for sports betting in Buenos Aires, has partnered with the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) to combat match-fixing and protect consumers and the regulated betting market.

The agreement, signed by Martín García Santillán and Federico Cattadori of Lotería de la Ciudad, aims to analyze global sports betting markets, which generate over $137 billion in annual revenue, and work closely with the regulatory body to identify and investigate suspicious betting activity.

As part of the deal, new guidelines will be established for sharing technical knowledge and sports betting integrity information. This will enable the IBIA to provide valuable advice to Lotería de la Ciudad on tackling any flagged issues.

By enhancing communication channels, Lotería de la Ciudad will be better equipped to address fraudulent activity within its jurisdiction. In Latin America, where the IBIA reported 105 suspicious alerts between 2018 and 2022, nine originated from Argentina, home to Lotería de la Ciudad in Buenos Aires.

Football and tennis were the two sports that raised concerns for potential fraudulent activity. Meanwhile, in Brazil, Galera.bet has joined the IBIA following a recent measure by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Our collaboration with the IBIA marks a significant step in safeguarding the integrity of sports betting and ensuring a fair and trustworthy betting environment for all stakeholders.
