The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has recently released a comprehensive report regarding the lack of swift action taken by certain gambling companies in the Netherlands when it comes to assisting potential problem gamblers.

The report, commissioned by the KSA, highlights the urgency of the situation, as it found that many providers are not adequately addressing the needs of problem gamblers. This has prompted the KSA to take action and tighten its own policies, as well as recommend amendments to legislation and regulations by the Ministry of Justice & Security.

René Jansen, Chairman of the Gaming Authority, stresses the importance of prioritizing safe play. When providers exceed the boundaries of their duty of care, the KSA will intervene. The research conducted has identified areas where providers are falling short, and it is clear that rules need to be strengthened in order to create a safer environment for players.

One concerning discovery from the report is that some companies are not equipped to respond promptly or effectively when it comes to excessive gaming or potential gambling addictions.

As a result of these findings, the KSA is making adjustments to its responsible gambling policy, including implementing real-time monitoring, enhancing rules for assessing gaming behavior, and implementing mandatory account blocking for problem players until appropriate intervention has occurred.

Overall, this report serves as a crucial wake-up call for the gambling industry in the Netherlands, emphasizing the need for immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of players.
