Playtech has published its third report on the Latin American gaming industry, revealing significant changes in player behaviour and perceptions across Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chile, and Colombia. The report highlights growing trust in platforms due to regulatory developments, but also underscores a persistent lack of awareness regarding responsible gaming support.
Surveying 2,500 players, the study shows that regulation and platform transparency have become key factors for consumer trust. In Brazil and Peru—two markets with newly tightened regulations—player confidence has grown, with 92% of Peruvians betting at least once a month. However, 80% in Peru and 77% in Argentina also support stricter controls on advertising.
Colombia, a pioneer in regulated online gambling since 2016, stands out as the region’s most mature market. There, 58% of players prioritise payment reliability and speed. Meanwhile, in Chile, 63% of players feel safer using licensed platforms, although only 15% feel fully informed about current laws.
Despite this regulatory progress, Playtech’s report identifies a widespread information gap around problem gambling resources. In Colombia, just 23% of players know where to seek help—a trend mirrored in Peru (24%), Mexico (22%), and Chile (25%).
Responsible gaming tools such as age verification and transparent policies are increasingly valued, with 88% of Argentine players supporting stronger safeguards for minors. Playtech CEO Mor Weizer emphasised that the company is committed to sustainable growth in the region by delivering both advanced technology and shared industry knowledge.
The report concludes that long-term success in Latin America’s gaming sector will depend on operators offering safe, transparent, and user-focused experiences—while bridging the knowledge gap in responsible gaming support.
