The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has just released its latest gaming numbers for December 2023. And the results are impressive. Total gaming revenue for the month reached an astounding $522.2 million, marking a substantial 14.8% increase from the previous year.

In fact, the growth was not limited to just one month. The total revenue for the entire year of 2023 amounted to a staggering $5.78 billion, representing a solid 10.9% increase from the previous year’s total of $5.21 billion.

When it comes to land-based casinos, they too saw a boost in revenue. In December alone, the nine casinos reported a total revenue of $232.4 million, a notable 7.8% increase compared to the previous year.

While the overall growth in casino revenue was positive, a few casino licensees showed a slight decrease in revenue from the previous year. However, their numbers were still significant, indicating the resilience of the industry as a whole.

The DGE also provided details on internet gaming and sports wagering. In December 2023, online gaming revenue reached an impressive $180.3 million, reflecting a strong growth of 19.1% compared to November’s numbers.

And for sports wagering, the revenue for December 2023 hit $109.4 million, a remarkable 24.8% increase from the previous year.

In summary, New Jersey’s gaming industry has experienced remarkable growth and success in 2023. With soaring revenue numbers and steady increases, it is clear that the state’s casinos, racetracks, and online gaming platforms are thriving.
