PokerStars becomes a member of the esteemed Portuguese Online Betting and Gambling Association

PokerStars Joins Portugal’s APAJO as Affiliate Member for Responsible and Safe Gambling

PokerStars, the leading online poker platform, has announced its affiliation with the Portuguese Online Betting and Gambling Association (APAJO). Since 2018, APAJO has been the voice of the industry, representing operators in discussions regarding regulatory matters. The committee has also created a Responsible Gambling Manual offering recommendations that go beyond legal requirements. João Saraiva, Planning & Strategy Manager for Portugal at PokerStars, said joining APAJO would allow the company to share its extensive experience in promoting responsible gambling in licensed jurisdictions to promote a safe and secure playing environment in Portugal.

We are excited to collaborate with APAJO and pursue our ambitious goals in this market. As part of Flutter Entertainment, our expansion into regulated markets aligns with our parent company’s strategy. MGA Games also recognizes the potential in Portugal and recently signed an agreement with Bwin.pt. Ricardo Domingues, President of APAJO, welcomes PokerStars as a leading international brand and we look forward to promoting a safe and sustainable online gambling environment in Portugal together.

APAJO Unveils Bold 2023 Plans with Key Role for PokerStars

Betano, Betclic, Bwin, Casino Portugal, ESC Online, and Solverde.pt have joined APAJO and will play an important role in driving its ambitious plans for 2023. According to Domingues, APAJO’s President, “This is a great opportunity to invite other licensed operators to get on board and benefit from this exciting initiative.”
