Lagos, Nigeria – In a bold move, Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) has declared several gambling brands illegal and has issued a public instruction to cease betting with them. This action comes as a result of these brands being deemed in violation of both the Constitution and the recently amended Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority Law 2021.

The ban affects various aspects of the gambling industry in Nigeria, both online and land-based, impacting numerous verticals.

LSLGA has accused the banned brands of operating without the necessary licenses, thus breaching Section 33(3) of the law, which explicitly states that gaming activities cannot be conducted without authorization from the Authority.

The now prohibited gambling brands include Zebet, Betika, Gobet, MSport, 22Bet, Afribet, Bestbet360, Bangbet, and many others.

In other Nigerian news, Kambi’s Abios brand has recently partnered with Oyawin to provide esports data, odds, and statistics. Oyawin will also have access to Abios’ esoccer solution, offering a range of mobile widgets.

Oskar Bonnevier Fröberg, CEO, and Founder of Abios, expressed excitement about supporting the growth of esports in Nigeria by supplying Oyawin with top-quality esports odds, statistics, and data visualizations.
