The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has announced its transition to become a purely regulatory body. Previously functioning as both operator and regulator, PAGCOR aims to level the playing field and ensure future growth for the gaming industry.
Chairman Alejandro H. Tengco revealed this plan during a recent event, signaling a significant shift for the organization. Interestingly, this decision comes shortly after PAGCOR announced the launch of its online casino, Casino.Filipino.com.
With a goal to prioritize regulations, PAGCOR is taking active steps towards this transition. By 2025, the agency aims to complete the necessary changes in its corporate structure and processes. However, the focus on regulation doesn’t mean neglecting employees. PAGCOR is committed to avoiding personnel displacement and has plans in place to mitigate any impact.
To enhance coordination and performance, PAGCOR will consolidate into a single corporate office. Additionally, the organization plans to modernize existing casinos to attract more players.
As PAGCOR embraces its new role, it is clear that the future of the gaming industry in the Philippines is poised for growth and success.
