The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), in collaboration with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), has made significant strides in combating illegal gaming operations and online scams. In two separate raids conducted in Laguna and Parañaque City, authorities apprehended a total of 10 Chinese nationals and 26 Filipinos involved in these illicit activities.

On Thursday, a joint operation by the CIDG-NCR and PAGCOR led to the arrest of 10 Chinese nationals in Multinational Village, Parañaque. The suspects were charged with violations of the Anti Trafficking in Persons Act (RA 9208), Alien Registration Act (RA 562), and Cybercrime Prevention Act (RA 10175). During the raid, authorities seized various assets, including mobile phones, computers, laptops, credit cards, vehicles, and Chinese government documents. The discovery of two vaults at the Parañaque residence further implicated the suspects’ involvement in illegal operations.

PAGCOR Senior Vice President for Security Cluster Raul Villanueva revealed that the arrested Chinese nationals were believed to be part of a group that had escaped from a previous raid on a large gaming compound in Bamban, Tarlac, in March. Additionally, nine Filipino female workers were rescued, and one Filipino male bodyguard was arrested for possessing an undocumented .45 calibre pistol.

Prior to the Parañaque operation, PAGCOR and the PNP-ACG conducted a raid in Biñan, Laguna, on Tuesday. The operation targeted an illegal online raffle conducted through the Facebook page “Lucky Dream 4.” Sixteen individuals were arrested while livestreaming their 50th raffle event from an office within a subdivision in Biñan.

In a press release, PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco emphasized the agency’s dedication to fighting illegal online gambling and other illicit activities. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the public, particularly the youth, from the harmful effects of these unlawful practices. Tengco also highlighted PAGCOR’s ongoing collaboration with law enforcement agencies to strengthen their campaign against illegal operations.

These recent raids demonstrate PAGCOR’s unwavering commitment to upholding regulatory standards and protecting the public from the detrimental impact of illegal gambling and fraudulent activities. As the agency continues its efforts to combat these illicit practices, it serves as a reminder to the gaming industry and the public to remain vigilant and support the fight against illegal operations.
