Pennsylvania’s gaming revenue for November 2023 has been revealed, showing a decrease in overall revenue but a surge in sports wagering handle. The state’s sports wagering handle reached an impressive $934.1m, marking an 18.4% increase compared to last year.

However, total revenue for the state’s operators decreased by 1.7% to $444.5m. Among these operators, Hollywood Casino Morgantown experienced the biggest revenue decline of 25%, while The Casino at Nemacolin enjoyed the largest increase with a 32% growth.

The top revenue generator, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, earned $66.6m with a year-on-year decrease of 6.5%. Similarly, Valley Forge Casino Resort saw a 6.3% decline. In contrast, Wind Creek Bethlehem was the only one among the top five operators to experience revenue growth, with a year-on-year increase of 8.3% to $45.9m.

When examining revenue by gaming type, iGaming slot revenue showed the biggest growth, generating $109.3m with a 26.2% increase. Sports wagering revenue, on the other hand, experienced the largest decrease of 75.7%, totaling $12.9m. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board attributed this decrease in part to non-taxable promotional play by ESPN Bet and a low hold percentage benefiting bettors.

Among the fantasy operators in the state, DraftKings led both in revenue generation and year-on-year growth, earning $1.8m in November with an increase of 18.2%. Statewide, fantasy operator revenue was up 2%.
