Pennsylvania has released its gaming statistics for September 2023, revealing a total revenue of $476.3m. This represents a notable 6% increase compared to September 2022, which had a revenue of $448.5m.

Breaking down the numbers, iGaming slots generated $114.7m, experiencing an impressive 47% growth from last year. This is the highest increase seen in the state’s gaming sectors, while retail slots showed a modest 1% rise, reaching $199.9m.

On the other hand, table games had mixed results, with retail falling by 8% to $75.2m year-on-year. However, iGaming table games fared well, experiencing a 32% annual growth and reaching $42.4m, making it the second-highest vertical in Pennsylvania for the month.

Interestingly, sports wagering experienced a significant decline, with revenue amounting to $36.6m, marking a 27% decrease compared to last year. Despite the start of the new NFL season, sports wagering revenue did not see an expected boost (only an increase in handle).

This 27% drop represents the largest decline among all the verticals in the state, despite sports wagering continuing to witness substantial growth across the US.

In September 2022, the state generated $50.2m from sports wagering, with the Valley Forge Casino Resort and the Hollywood Casino at the Meadows experiencing the most significant revenue drops. The Valley Forge reported a 16% decrease, while the Hollywood Casino recorded a 24% fall. Additionally, online poker experienced the second-largest decline, generating $2.4m compared to September 2022’s $2.7m, indicating a 10% decrease.
