Ukrainian players delivered an impressive performance at the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) held in Amsterdam from March 14 to 19, 2025. The national team reached seven of eight possible final tables in the ring events and secured over 40 cashes across the tournament.
Oleksandr Novoselskyi, head coach of the Ukrainian national poker team, claimed a championship ring and a first-place prize of €31,402—well surpassing his own expectations. In the final heads-up match, he defeated Germany’s Tim Reusch, who walked away with €21,000.
The tournament marked one of the Ukrainian team’s most successful WSOPC outings to date, under the sponsorship of VBET. In the €300 No-Limit Hold’em Re-entry event, which attracted 316 entries and offered an €89,105 prize pool, three Ukrainians made the final table:
- Artem Berlyand finished 2nd (€11,344)
- Ivan Bozhenko took 5th
- Maxim Filipovsky secured 6th
Roman Yurkiv finished third in the Bounty Progressive event, earning €16,600, while Dmytro Tulin added €17,919 to the team’s total after placing sixth in the €1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha event.
In the WSOPC Main Event, featuring 1,505 entries and a prize pool close to €1.5 million, Ukraine’s best result came from Nazary Piznak, who finished sixth for €38,570. The tournament was won by Spain’s Jordi Ruiz, who claimed €130,590 for first place.
Tetiana Bondarchuk, the sole female representative of the Ukrainian team at the event, made a strong impression by finishing fourth in the Starter event. Out of 428 entries and a €201,000 prize pool, she earned €13,035. Fellow Ukrainian Alexey Lezhepekov also reached the final table, placing eighth and taking home €4,526.
Bondarchuk came close to the final three after eliminating David Kim with pocket kings. The event was ultimately won by Dutch player Tim van der Riet, who defeated both Kim and Carlo Wolters in heads-up play to claim the top prize of €35,625.
The Ukrainian national team’s next scheduled appearance will be at the Ukrainian Sports Poker Championship in Lviv at the end of April, hosted by the All-Ukrainian Sports Poker Federation.
