North American casinos have fallen victim to data scams, with Great Canadian Entertainment (GCE) and Rivers Casino in Illinois reporting phishing scams and data breaches. GCE warned customers and offered compensation after players were tricked into downloading fake casino apps. These apps used company logos and names to deceive users and collect their data. GCE confirmed the apps were not legitimate and warned customers not to share financial details. In a separate incident, Rivers Casino experienced a data breach in August, exposing customer and staff contact information and government IDs. The casino quickly took action to secure their systems and will provide free scam alerts to affected customers for a year.
